THE KUBUSI VALLEY IS TEAMING WITH WILDLIFE, WATER AND FERTILE LAND FOR STOCK FARMING PURPOSE. THIS IS STORYBOOK MATERIAL! UNBEATABLE IN STATURE, PHENOMENAL IN POTENTIAL!
The soles of his shoes kick up the fine early morning dust, as the rays of orange filled sunlight filter and flicker through the shadows creating an imaginable stardust effect. As Eugene Osterloh approaches myself from a distance the bright yellow cap worn on his head, proudly says it all. O.B.S (Osterloh Brahman Stud).
His reputation is known far and wide as one of the most innovative and successful Brahman stud farmers to ever grace the face of Africa. Watch the video interview on the farms, the lifestyle, history and what farming for the people of South Africa is all about.
They call it Zuluberg, it’s the air up there, perched atop a small koppie, I miraculously attempt to absorb as much of this sheer beauty with mammoth proportions and unspoilt landscape. I am absolutely astonished by the quantity of grasslands before my eyes, oh yes this is cattle country for sure! To my right I hear rocks breaking as a herd of mountain reedbuck make their narrow escape down toward the tranquil meandering Kubusi river.
Jointly the farms boast a variety of wildlife including a significant Kudu population, Waterbuck, Bushbuck, Duiker, Warthog, Bushpig and approximately 10 kilometres of Kubusi river frontage.
The terrain, setting and landscape is predominantly North facing and can only be described as first-class with the grazing consisting of sweetveld, open veld grasslands, mixed veld with edible bush and wild olives in abundance. (Wild Olives are similar to lucerne in feed value).
Infrastructure includes +- 20 camps (fencing needing attention), 9 stock dams, 2 reservoirs, borehole (untested), cattle handling facilities, 20 Hectares of irrigation / water rights for Lucerne production.
The farms are private, well-positioned and panhandled away from main roads and stock theft hotspots.
Osterloh will certainly not be retiring, but due to the efficiency of modern-day farming techniques and practices he will be releasing some of his lesser utilized farms back into the market.
This is excellent livestock country with minimal losses and inputs. With the long Kubusi river frontage, water is plentiful and the sky is the limit. Ambitious prospective purchasers - Game Farm, Weekend getaway, livestock farm.
Can you show me better?
I thought not.
