Excellent Opportunity to Purchase a well-positioned and developed Macadamia and Avo farm just a short distance from George in the Garden Route. Only a 10 min drive to the George Airport and 15 minutes to George
The farm is 61ha in extent and was previously operated as a dairy farm.
Approximately 7 years ago, 25ha of Macadamia’s were planted with ridges and micro-irrigation in place.
A further 15ha of Avo’s were planted a few years later, around 2022, and these were also ridged with micro-irrigation.
A further 8 ha of farmland remains to be developed with 4ha’s of this having been already ridged and micro irrigation installed but no trees planted.
The farm has a total of 7349 Macadamia trees, this is made up of the following varieties: Beaumont, A4, 788 and Intel-Nelmak2. The Avo trees are all the Hass variety and selected from the export market, 6300 Avocado trees in all were planted.
The farm is known to produce a high-quality macadamia nut, which is desirable for export. The macadamias are just starting to come into production and the farm had a crop earlier in 2024 and as the trees mature, the crop volumes will grow significantly.
The Avo’s tend to come in late in the season (Nov-Feb) which is ideal as it is in a period of High demand and low production. The Avo trees are between 2 – 3 years of age and have also started to produce.
The farm has sufficient water rights and extracts water from the Witels River, which forms its western border. The water rights allow for 300,000m3 per year, and the 3 Storage dams allow for sufficient storage of water for two years of farming. The average rainfall is 715mm/year.
